What is someone’s relationship towards digital photos compared to analog photos?
This research question has evolved into creating Best Before Expired: a tool that grows generated digital mold on photos. The mold grows on the photos based on their last opened date. If there was such a thing as digital mold, would their value of digital files change?
Various processed photos
Demonstration of the tool:
Helvetica is mostly used for its functional purpose which is the key trademark of this typeface. By hacking it I explored its boundaries and removed the functional use. The posters are a visual translation and show what happens when Helvetica’s functionality is being removed.
We live in a world of instant-gratification. A world where the new generation needs quick, on demand access to information. I have noticed that young designers take their visual research to websites like Behance, Pinterest and Instagram. These visuals on the webpages are organized in a very toxic manner, in a way that a user cannot appreciate a single image without distractions. I created an interface where a user can observe an Instagram feed in a more relaxed and visual friendly, virtual experience.
HOW TO NONSENSE
How-To Nonsense is a reaction on the usage of How-To guides. Online communities share enormous databases with tutorials that are accessible for anyone who want to learn anything.
These guides come with the consequence of being biased, low quality of knowledge and not having any neutrality policies.
We removed human aspects by training a computer to understand the language of How-To's. After training, the computer was able to generate new titles.
The results reflect the thoughtless side of online communities that can teach you anything.
A "dark pattern" is a way of carefully tricking users within a digital interface in taking certain actions, like purchasing something or subscribing to a service. For this assignment we were asked to redesign a large volume of text of our own choosing. I chose a research paper about dark patterns. Visually I designed it in a way with hidden dark patterns throughout the book.
